Suki kitten
Diana says: I volunteer at the Toronto Humane Society, where I visit and play with the resident kitties, help to feed them, and photograph them. From time to time one or another captures my heart and becomes my "favorite." For the time she was at the shelter, Suki was definitely my favorite.

When I first met her, I saw that the previous people that fed her wrote on her chart that she didn't want to eat and only ate three mls. When I took her and tried to feed her, she didn't want to eat from the syringe, but kept sucking on my finger as though it was a nipple. So I put the food into a bottle and she ate for 1.5 hours! No joke, she ate at least 45 mls that day, and would have kept eating if I had given her more food. She was the funniest kitten. After she ate, her belly would get distended which made her look even funnier! She kept sucking on my finger and purring endlessly. I think she missed her mommy as she was in a cage all by herself. I named her Suki. At first I named her Suckie because she kept sucking on things, but then I thought Suki was a much nicer name :) Her expressions were so cute. Her nose was a little peeled off so it appeared bigger than it really was. She was the funniest and cutest kitten and I was in love with her.

One day I went to see her and found that she had charmed other volunteers as well. Another volunteer loved Suki and was trying to talk her boyfriend into letting her bring her home. I kept trying to convince her to take Suki and she kept trying to convince me to take Suki. But too bad, someone else beat us to it! I am happy for her, but at the same time I miss her heaps! She truly was a special kitten whose charm came so effortlessly and who was even cuter because she was unaware of it. Oh, Suki... I hope you will always have good food to eat and a warm place to sleep.

Three Little Orphans Part 3: Feivel kitten
emopuppypirate says: Feivel was found in a cardboard box with his siblings, Wolfe and Wesley. There was a note attached saying their mother had died, along with a plea for someone to take care of them. I foster for the humane society, so they called me and I took them all in and began to feed and care for them. Feivel, or "Monkey" as we call him, had to be tube-fed as he was too weak to suck the bottle. Now he's eating canned food like a big boy. He's still teeny tiny, though. His favorite things to do are climb upholstered chairs, swat around sparkly mylar balls, and sit on my lap and play with my hair :) He got his name from An American Tail because he is tiny and looks like a mouse, especially Feivel, the mouse from that movie. Feivel has a forever home -- with us!

Three Little Orphans Part 2: Wesley kitten
emopuppypirate says: Wesley is a sweet little grey-and-white kitten who was found in a cardboard box with his siblings. There was a note attached saying their mother had died, along with a plea for someone to take care of them. I volunteer for the humane society, so they asked if I could bottle-feed them, which I did for the next six weeks. Wes is my "sensitive" child and has always liked to cuddle. He's the only one who always purrs at me when I pick him up -- always. He can be in the middle of playing with his brothers and I'll pick him up and he'll purr at me. Kind of like he's saying, the "Hey, mom." lol He was the first to do everything like eat solid food, walk, and use the litterbox. He enjoys sparkly toys and gets angry at me for taking them to clean. Wes will be available for adoption through the Helotes Humane Society in Texas once he has been neutered and is healthy. (Like Wolfie, Wes is currently getting over a bad case of ringworm, but he'll be better in no time!) To fill out an application, please go to the shelter's Web site.

Three Little Orphans Part 1: Wolfe kitten
emopuppypirate says: Wolfe is a sweet little grey tabby who was found in January in a cardboard box with his siblings. There was a note attached saying their mother had died, along with a plea for someone to take care of them. I foster for the humane society, so they called me, asking if I could bottle-feed them. And that's what I did, for the next six weeks. Wolfey was the hardest to wean as he was definitely attached to his bottle... : ) He's off it now and eating canned food like a big boy. He likes dry crunchy food too. He's always been the big boy and he's very independent. He's got "stuff to do." He's a funny little guy, and he responds to "Woof-Woof" and "Wolfey" before he'll respond to "Wolfe." He will be available for adoption through the Helotes Humane Society in Texas once he has been neutered and is healthy. (He is currently getting over a bad case of ringworm; it even got his poor baby face. :( But he'll be better in no time!) To fill out an application, please go to the shelter's Web site.
